Photonic circuits for programming Qumodes

by Jörn Epping In our last article, we already learned about qumodes and their difference to the more well-known qubits. The topic of today’s article is how to actually let the qumodes do what we want them to do. The best way to do a computation with qumodes is to…

Qumodes vs Qubits explained, part II: information processing with qumodes

by Jelmer Renema It’s time to continue our discussion about qumodes. In the previous discussion, we talked about qumodes vs qubits from the point of view of state spaces, i.e.: how much information can you store in how many quantum particles? This time around, I will discuss how entanglement forms…

We proudly present: The 12-mode Universal Photonic Processor for Quantum Information Processing

by Admin On 11 Dec 2020 we introduced our 12-mode quantum photonic processor to the world. Paper Abstract: Photonic processors are pivotal for both quantum and classical information processing tasks using light. In particular, linear optical quantum information processing requires both large-scale and low-loss programmable photonic processors. In this paper, we report the demonstration of the largest universal quantum photonic processor to date: a low-loss, 12-mode fully tunable linear interferometer with all-to-all coupling based on stoichiometric silicon nitride waveguides.

Qumodes vs. Qubits explained, part I

by Jelmer Renema One of the things I get asked about the most is how the photonic systems that QuiX is working on compare to qubit systems. The short answer is that the QuiX photonic processor uses qumodes, which are a different way of carrying and manipulating quantum information than…

Hello World!

by admin Hello world, welcome to our Medium blog! Here, we’ll write about interesting things that we come accross in the world of quantum computing, we’ll provide background on our technology, and we’ll give updates on what QuiX is doing. The first post is from our CTO on the difference between qumodes and qubits.
